This company removes paint, discoloration from welded metal, surface defects, rust, etc. from metals of all types. They use blasting “media”(Non sand based beads) which is more effective, less damaging, and safer to use than sand. Their customers are powder coating businesses, manufacturing/fabrication co’s, auto repair/restoration, and all kinds of one offs. Their customers include several fortune 500 companies, some of which have big names. The owner states that he has not had a bad debt for over 10 years. Many of his customers give them work every week.
The company has 4 loyal employees plus the owner who makes 5. He works a 35-hour week and takes time off whenever he needs to. He has a great team and has never had to pay a dime in unemployment for an employee in the last 10 years. Many companies currently have trouble finding and training employees. They do not. The employees do not need any licensing and can be trained by the owner easily. The business has a great team that gets along well with one another. He enjoys the business.
Marketing: He does no advertising. He just maintains a basic website. The work finds them based on their reputation, location, and because there is not a lot of competition especially in their market. The company spent only 1,960 dollars in advertising over the last year which is basically nothing. The company has grown its bottom line almost 10% per year on average “organically” and has a 4.7 Google rating with only 22 reviews.
Future Growth: The seller knows how to grow the business but has been more focused on keeping the business steady and maintaining his quality of life. He states in the video interview(in the detailed sales package that a fully filled out NDA(in the blue link above) will automatically be sent to qualified potential buyers) there are many ways to grow this company. He is confident in a very easy way to double the revenues and more than double the profit by adding another metal working method that he turns down work for every week. This is a high demand, high margin method that he didn’t feel that he needed based on how close he was to retirement when he figured out how easy and profitable it would be. He estimates a total capital investment for this would be approximately 75K to 100K for a chance to add approximately 400K in profits per year. This would almost double the profits. The more traditional way to grow this would be to pay attention to their Google rating, asking for reviews, improve the website, add SEO, social media, hire a cold caller company to call on the type of businesses that need their services, and for the new owner to help with all of the new leads. He has not done any of this because he has been happy with the size and profitability of the company. There are other ways to grow the business like a 2nd location on the east side of I25. It is not often there are so many ways to grow a company that does not require a lot more capital and has easy paths to make more cash flow while increasing the value of the company at the same time.
The business has fully functional equipment, 1 large box truck, 1 flatbed truck, custom metal finishing tools/equipment, a very large variable speed indoor compressor that is capable of running the current shop and its growth in the future, a large and very effective dust collection system, and other tools and assets currently all worth a total of 185K.
This is a rare opportunity with 93% of revenue coming from current customers, 86% of his customers have been doing business with the company for more than 5 years. 93% recurring revenue form long term customers is very valuable to a new buyer who will not have to worry about the business changing the day after the closing. The buyer will get a business that has work in progress and daily work from long term customers.
The company is being offered for 1.39M and the property and custom building for an additional 2.14M which is what it was appraised for in September 2026. Both are contingent on each other which means that there will not be a purchase of the business without also buying the real estate which is owned by a separate entity and is a separate sales price. The total for both is 3,530,000 which he will get based on how easy this will be to grow and because he just had a USPAP licensed full appraisal on the building/property. The building was custom designed and built for this business and it would not make sense to buy the business without the building. This is a single member Sub S Corporation doing business as ……Metal….. and is priced assuming that it will be an “Asset” sale. The company is being offered for 1.39M debt free with the Seller willing to carry 5% of the business portion only for no more than 5 years with a personal guarantee and 6 ½% interest. He will consider carrying the real estate with a 15% down payment, a 1st position on the real estate, a personal guarantee, and 6.65% interest paid over a 20-year amortization with a 10-year balloon payment(for Qualified Buyers). He will stay for up to 3 months post-closing to help in transition for a negotiated salary. He will leave all unused customer deposits, monies owed to vendors/employees, etc. and pay off all debts at the closing. The % completion method will be used for work in progress which ensures a fair split of any work in progress on the closing date.
